Tesla completes Supercharger network between Adelaide and Melbourne
Tesla has continued the expansion of its charging network in Australia, with five new Superchargers in Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
A charge station in Horsham means the Supercharger link between Melbourne and Adelaide is now complete, while stations in Keith, Clare Valley and the Adelaide city centre are designed to allow Model S and Model X owners to travel between Adelaide and Brisbane without running flat.
The first Supercharger in Western Australia has officially been opened, giving drivers at the Eaton Fair Shopping Centre somewhere to top up their batteries. Tesla says it should take 30 minutes to add ‘up to 270km’ of range.

The new stations mean there are now 18 Supercharger spots in Australia, along with 384 destination chargers. There are plans for another 17 Superchargers in the near future, too.
Globally, the company wants to double the size of its charging network by 2018. North America will see the biggest number of new chargers, with 1000 new Superchargers set for California alone.
Charge spots on busy transport routes will be designed to charge several dozen vehicles at the same time, while there are also plenty of smaller off-highway stations built to make EV infrastructure more prominent in busy urban areas.
